2025 was a banner year for U.S. dairy exports

While tariff and trade tribulations garnered headlines throughout the year, U.S. dairy largely shrugged off that situation and posted export numbers that nearly surpassed the record year that was 2022, said Corey Geiger, lead dairy economist for CoBank.
“To be fair, 2025 might have had a chance to be even better and break those 2022 records had there not been geopolitical issues on the trade front,” he said. “In fact, the largest catalyst supporting growth in sales was the market conditions in which the U.S. had lower cheese and butter prices when compared to the world’s top two dairy exporters — the EU and New Zealand.”
