Cattle markets were quiet on the fundamental side last week. Futures were as well until they caught some excitement to finish it out, when Friday’s trade brought new life to contract highs for nearly all live cattle contracts on the board. Front month April finished at $251.775, up $5.575 week-over-week, while the June through August contracts were up $2.575 to $2.875 on the week. Feeder cattle contracts are not quite back to their highs from October, but they are moving closer. Front month April settled at $374.150, up $1.250 on the week, while the May through October contracts were up $1.725 to $3.425 with the strength in the deferred months.
