Holstein Springer Values Inching Back Upward

ZISK

January 10, 2020

Maureen Hanson

After months of price stagnation and decline, Holstein springer values finally gained a little ground in the past month. Springer prices increased, if ever-so-slightly, in all reported markets except California. While still well below the cost of production, these values shifting upward is a hopeful sign that replacement demand and revenue will continue to improve into 2020. Meanwhile, Holstein heifer (and bull) calves remain at bargain-basement prices at around $20 per head.
