U.S. cheese exports reached a record 139.9 million pounds in March and notched the 11th consecutive month over 110 million pounds. Butterfat exports also posted a record high of 37.6 million pounds, bringing the year-to-date total to 102 million pounds or 93% ahead of one year ago. Through just three months of the new year, butterfat exports have already outpaced the entire calendar year of 2024.

It’s important to note that cheese and butterfat exports were higher year-over-year in the first quarter of 2025 and picked up even more in the back half of the year. Price competitive cheese and butter from America has the U.S. well-positioned on the global stage for selling dairy products. Total dairy exports were up 159 million pounds or 10.9% year-to-date through March, according to USDA – Foreign Agricultural Service data.
