Dairy is having a moment again. Whole milk will be back in school cafeterias. Nutrition guidance is shifting. Industry groups are celebrating a long-fought policy win.

But for dairy farmers, especially here in Pennsylvania, it’s worth asking a harder question: Does any of this actually change the economics that determine whether farms survive?

The answer, uncomfortably, is no.
