This time is different
Back in January, I wrote a column entitled “this time is different.” The intent was to counter some of the pervasive misattribution of higher prices. Many observers simply keep assigning tighter cattle numbers as the underlying cause. And while that’s partially true, the perspective dismisses the ongoing influence of stronger demand over time.
The column focused on three primary aspects surrounding the business: 1) price, 2) volume, and 3) dollars. Given the market’s performance in recent weeks, it seems timely to revisit that discussion.
