US Lost 1,000 Dairy Farms But Increased Production in 2025

The United States lost 1,036 dairy farms in 2025, including 320 in Pennsylvania.
With 4,360 dairies, Pennsylvania still has the second most in the United States, after Wisconsin.
But Pennsylvania is the only state with more than 800 dairies where closures have increased each year since 2022, according to numbers USDA released Feb. 20.
