This is column #3 related to a recent Business Insider video/documentary: The real reason beef prices are so high. For me, it started with a LinkedIn post from one of the contributors (Dr. David Ortega); those comments whiffed, explaining the business (see columns one and two).
Now, let’s turn our attention to the video. Near the end, Business Insider explains, “…for supply to increase, ranchers have to be able to afford expansion.” And then, featured producer (and RCALF Region X Director) Eric Gropper throws out the talking point that captures the video‘s broader agenda: “We need to fix the market to put some producer confidence back in this game.”
