After a long stretch of low milk prices over the past five years, producers’ checkbooks are finally starting to feel some form of relief. However, poorer quality forages are taking a hit on some producers’ milk production while stacks of unpaid bills continue to pile up for others.
In a recent Dairy Herd Management poll, we asked our readers how long their mailbox milk price has been above their cost of production. Here are the results:
While 53% of the respondents’ bottom lines are now in the green, nearly half remain in the negative.
