Passion and vision fuel the future for Holstein Association USA’s 2025 Distinguished Young Breeder

He grew up in town but enjoyed farm life at his grandparents’ dairy. When his uncles, Tom and Rick Simon of Farnear Holsteins in Farley, Iowa, consented, Tim Rauen would show up in the barn to feed calves and scrape manure.
“That gave me the accessibility to meet the Holstein cow,” Rauen explains.
When his cousins showed cattle at the county and state fairs, he would tag along, and when international guests toured the farm, he would follow and listen to the pedigrees, cow families and their genetic evaluations.
